weardrobe watermelon weardrobe

YES YES YES why yes, that IS a screenshot of my first ever Weardrobe post! I just wanted to gloat that, yes, I finally made it to Weardrobe! (Actually, it wasn't that much of an ordeal — I simply applied and then soon after I got to post my first picture.) I was inspired after I saw theModCloth Back to School competition on Krystal's This Time Tomorrow…and after just really wanting to be a part of something cool. I need likes and comments so pleeeaseeee "hit me up": weardrobe.com/likeasaturday (I had to use that name because Ann Marie also applied but under Samson and Us). HOORAY!

And today, I enjoyed a mug of water (joy), watermelon, apricot, and blackberries. A nice color combo, wouldn't you agree? Also on my plate (ha ha) is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Yes, yes, I am about five years late in reading the series. I read the first few when I was younger, and didn't like it all that much, but now I'm in LOVE. And the blue book is called "The Passage," by Justin Cronin. I just finished this 700+ monster yesterday, and let me tell you, was it GOOD. The ending…err…well…read it. I didn't think "horror fiction" was my type, but this was super awesome.

vera

http://www.verawang.com/fashion/videos/#/fall-2010/

check out the newest Vera Wang,
I love the fur shoulders, the feathered skirts, and the sparkles. This collection is fantastic and I can definitely see the luxe feeling that Vera Wang always puts out in wedding dresses and in her ready to wear lines.
I am off for the next week I will post when I am back.

ta-ta for now my darlings,
AnnMarie

urban jungle

Finally, FINALLY I got the pleasure of "working" with Lily the Great — Ann Marie's cousin. She's a fantastic photographer and a wonderful girl. We went down to Lakewood Park on a blistering hot day (Saturday, with temps in the upper 90s!) to take some pictures for the ModCloth Fashion Short video contest. Starring me, Ann Marie, and another friend, Lily graciously accepted to shoot it in stop motion for us. This was the first day we tried shooting, but it didn't work out so well, and we just ended up taking fun shots and forgetting about our video.

Once we finally put it up though, pleeeease vote for us! We'd love to win a gift card to ModCloth, one of the cutest clothing websites out there.

P.S. A little treat — featured on This Time Tomorrow by Krystal (and by the rest of the Delightful Dozen) was this ADORABLE necklace collection from Jess LC. I love it! Desperately seeking jewelry. Check out the 50% off brail necklaces; the brail is misspelled, but the heart's in the right place, and as she says, it's a good way to get great jewelry for half price!

Dress: Blue and white polka dot house dress, Urban Outfitters
Shirt: White button down Oxford, Chadwick's
Necklace: Two-stringed pearls, vintage from my mom
Shoes: Black lace flats, Urban Outfitters
Rings: Stackable flowered rings, Urban Outfitters (courtesy of Lily)

Ann Marie is going completely insane right now, So her close friend (me) has taken over for the time being!
Today we went on an adventure in the blistering heat- a whopping 98 degrees.
We traveled to the park just to goof off, but due to the innter photography freak in me, i knew we had to take hold of the great lighting when we had it.
So we rushed back home to put on something blog worthy.
We worked with a lot of lines and geometry in this mini shoot, and just had a blast.
It started to storm right as we got inside- it was a true race. We sprinted as it was drizzling.

nowhere to go

I was feeling fashionable a few mornings ago, with a visit to coblogger Ann Marie's house in the works for a few hours after these pictures were taken. But, to my disappointment, I was informed that yes, indeed, it was simply too hot to wear my sort-of sweater outside. Summer, I love you, but please take a hasty leave — autumn allows for so many more options!

Oh, and hopefully this affinity to peace signs will be gone soon…a friend of a friend said to me outright: "Your belt is tacky!" But hey, it's good to promote love for one another, right?

Sweater: Navy-grey dolman, H&M
Shorts: Pink 3.5 inches, Old Navy
Belt: Black with gold peace sign, Kohl's
Pearls: Vintage from my mommy
Peace sign necklace: Lion and Blue, Lakewood boutique

P.S. One quick footnote: Check out this super cute cardigan from ModCloth. I mostly love it because it's named after one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands — "Love Like a Sunset," Phoenix. You can always count on ModCloth for an adorable dosage of fantastic fashion.

meet me in my room

Ann Marie's wonderful cousin, Lily, is not only a great photographer — she's also a budding stop-motion animator/director. She makes the cutest videos ever.

So, the other day, I was lounging around, doing absolutely nothing, and I realized that I really needed to start doing something worthwhile. I then took a cue from Lily, went into my room, found all the silly little trinkets I have lying around, and made a movie. This is the product of my first-ever attempt at stop motion!

Harper's Bazaar winter 2008-2007

When I think of high fashion I thought of of women dresses in extravagant dresses and adorned with strings of pearls and riches. It is only now that I realize how much more fashion is. It is passion, for the things you do, and effort, and pride.

I want the world to know my name and I what I want even more is to know that some little girl is reading a fashion magazine under covers, cutting out my designs and wishing more then ever that she could be me.

we not only look hot…

…but we ARE hot! Our teeny tiny town has been going through a horrible series of hot flashes lately — on the Sunday the Fourth, the temperatures were up in the nineties! And let me tell you, marching was a terror. Even today, I was volunteering at a farmer's market, and we were outside for only about two hours; by the time we were done, we were drenched in sweat! Ugh! Anyway, this is not a happy subject for a fashion blog. Fashionable people don't sweat, right?

In this mini-photoshoot, Ann Marie and I went out for an iced mocha at the local coffee shop, The Root (formerly known as Phoenix). We dressed up, but by the time we got home, we had to throw off all our clothes and just be happy in our shorts and t-shirts. Let's hope for cooler weather!

Nora's outfit
Dress: Lace dress with exposed back zipper, Forever 21
Shirt: Nude t-shirt, Kohl's
Shoes: Black lace flats, Urban Outfitters
Belt: Leather belt, Ann Marie's brother's
Jewelry: Peace sign necklace (visible in the first photo), Lion and Blue; Pearls, Ann Marie's

Ann Marie's outfit
Shirt: Father's dress shirt
Shoes: Urban Outfitters, on sale for $9.99
Belt: Nora's, from Kohl's, $20
(and I can't speak for the rest of it…but let's just go with American Apparel black leggings and a recycled purse)

the birthday girl

my guest photographer for this weekend is the one and only Lily. maybe its just the fact she has an awesome camera or maybe its the fact that she can take good photos I don't know but to be honest I don't care.

Today I am the birthday girl, and the birthday girl needs a wonderfully colored, organic dress that she looks fabulous in. Come on who doesn't love a good party?

H&M garden collection pocket dress (20 dollars) made from organic cotton if i might add
sinful colors nail polish (1 dollar)
purple knit headband (made by me)
purple flower ring (birthday gift)
blue shell necklace, Lion and Blue (20 dollars)
